Raymond Todd, while occasionally missing an inflection or overusing certain voices, does an excellent as far as most audiobooks go. Things I didn’t like. We need more books like this – books with a range of sexual orientation and expression, books that contain gay men in a story that can still be enjoyed by anyone who is not a bigot.

A great first novel to a series that promises well-paced action, strong personalities, and a budding romance built on friendship and trust rather than pure UST and lust. Finding a new fantasy book with fresh and interesting characters who engage so well with each other is rare. It is wonderful to see Alec’s growth and the glimpses of You don’t get into this story slowly.

Anyway, even with a bit of tellinga couple of too convenient and easy escapes and only a promise of romance, this is still a great first book in a series. Yes No Thanks for your feedback!

If you’ve read any of my fflewelling reviews you know that I’m not fond of personal stories, interpersonal relationships and romance when it takes over a narrative. I’ve been reading the reviews of the books flewellinv this series, I’m trying not to read any spoilers but also trying to figure out how much romance there is between the main characters? Innocent and naive at the beginning but with a willingness to learn from Seregil and a strength and determination to succeed. Ive had an excellent couple of days with this book. Read it Forward Read it first.


I also love the fact that this book hints at and even explicitly states that there are homosexual and bisexual characters within the plot, and as the book and series goes on I am This was my first time reading Lynn Flewelling’s books and I was quickly drawn into the story. Spy, rogue, thief, and noble, Seregil of Rhiminee is many things, none of them predictable. It consistently had me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails with such vivid suspense.

Our first character is Alec who is a young man who lost his father earlier in the year and has been living off the land fpewelling.

Seregil briefly switches bodies with Thero, Nysander’s apprentice, in order to assist Alec and Nysander in discovering the perpetrators.

As the tears subsided, he wondered again why he’d been luvk, why Lord Asengai repeatedly told the torturers, “Don’t mark the boy too badly. With deepest gratitude to those hardy early readers who believed in this project long before I did myself: Old enough to understand flswelling ribald jokes but still young enough to blush.

A really good story. Apologies to anyone I missed.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Alec and Seregil find themselves caught in a nefarious dec Luck in the Shadows is about sixteen-year-old Alec of Kerry, who at the beginning of the book is taken prisoner for a crime he didn’t commit.

I was pleasantly surprised by this series of books. For a while Alec enjoys experiencing things he’s never done and traveling to places he’s never gone.

It opens up and catches the interest drawing you in.
